Idorsia is sponsoring a phase 4 clinical study to find out if Daridorexant* is safe and effective in treating insomnia in patients with nocturia. Daridorexant is a new medication that blocks the effects of brain substances called orexins. These substances are responsible for keeping you awake.

You may be eligible for this study if you:

Are at least 55 years old
Have at least 3 nocturnal bathroom visits per night
Have had problems sleeping for at least 3 months
Agree to complete a daily electronic journal

Nocturia is a condition that causes sufferers to frequently wake as waking during their main sleep period to urinate. In this study, nocturia refers to frequent nighttime  awakenings to urinate. These occurrences nighttimehave been reported to cause severe distress while decreasing quality of night life.

Most people experience difficulties sleeping from time to time. However, when sleeping problems happen often, last a long time, cause distress, or seriously affect how someone copes with daily life, it is called insomnia.

Daridorexant is the scientific name for a medication that blocks the effects of brain substances called orexins – which keep people awake. It is taken as a pill every night at bedtime. Daridorexant has been tested and found effective and safe in treating insomnia in large clinical studies done in adult patients.
